Originally a technical skill, payroll today is a professional discipline.  Payroll professionals are knowledgeable in all aspects of payroll, stay abreast of changes in related technologies, and keep current with the legislative and regulatory environment through independent research. A payroll professional must be proficient in all aspects of taxation and tax reporting, MIS, human resources (including benefits), and accounting as each of these relates to the payroll environment.   Today’s payroll professional functions as a member of the management team.  PayrollOrg offers the certification examination to recognize those who have achieved this professional proficiency.

Certification is the recognition of professional skills by one’s peers.  Certified Payroll Professional recognition is given by PayrollOrg to those who (1) meet the eligibility requirements for admission to the examination, (2) successfully complete the examination, and (3) subscribe to the PayrollOrg Code of Ethics.  You can obtain a copy of the CPP Handbook at
https://payroll.org/.

The Indianapolis Chapter of PayrollOrg would like to help you prepare to take the Certified Payroll Professional Examination…          The 2026 CPP Study Group will begin on Wednesday July 8, 2026.
